Book title: 32 Yolks
Author: Eric Ripert
In Eric Ripert’s inspiring, heartbreaking and yet simultaneously heartwarming coming of age story, he documents his life from childhood in France to recognition as a world renowned and respected chef.
Struggling through his parents divorce, and the then devastating death of his father in a hiking accident years later, Ripert’s only sense of comfort was found in food, and thus he began his future in cooking. When a local chef became his personal mentor, Eric discovered cooking was his passion, and found his home in the kitchen. 32 Yolks is notable for the unknown struggle Ripert faced, and his evolution and drive that landed him at the top of today’s increasingly competitive culinary rank.
Verdict: A short yet satisfying read, 32 Yolks is mesmerizing for those who have found a connection in the kitchen similar to that of Ripert’s, whether that be pancakes or pâté.
